Kohli made his 50th ODI ton during the first semifinal match of the World Cup 2023 and surpassed Sachin Tendulkar’s 49 ODI centuries record.
Highest runs in a single World Cup
Virat Kohli broke the records of the Master Blaster who topped the list of highest runs in a Single World Cup. Sachin Tendulkar had scored 673 runs during the World Cup 2003 which is the highest by a player in a single World Cup.
After two decades the Indian star, Virat Kohli broke the record by scoring 700+ runs during the semi finals match against New Zealand. He scored 765 runs in the World Cup in 2023 and became the highest run-scorer in the tournament.
With the top two spots secured by two Indian stars, the Australian player Matthew Hayden stands third as he amassed 659 runs in 10 matches during the World Cup 2007.
Other than Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Shreyas Iyer also secured their spots on the list. Rohit Sharma stands seventh in the list with 597 runs in 11 matches while Shreyas Iyer stands in 18th position with 530 runs in 11 matches they’ve played in the World Cup 2023.
