Their recent clash in the T20 format ended with no result at the Men’s Asian Games on October 07 2023 at Pingfeng Campus Cricket.
India is set to feature Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli’s comeback in T20Is. But Virat Kohli will not be available for the first T20I against Afghanistan in Mohali due to personal reasons.
Rahul Dravid has made his speech at the pre-match conference saying, “As of now, we will be certainly opening with Rohit and Jaiswal. But when you have a squad, you have to have that flexibility to do whatever is required if that is in the best interest of the team and gives us the best chance to succeed.”
“So nothing is closed. But certainly, we’re really happy with what Jaiswal has done as an opener for us, and he gives us a left-right combination as well at the top.”
On the other hand, Afghanistan’s key player Rashid Khan will be ruled out of the entire series.
The Afghanistan head coach Ibrahim Zadran has spoken about the absence of Rashid Khan saying, “Without Rashid, we will struggle as his experience is invaluable, but even in his absence, we have got quality spinners in Mujeeb [Ur Rahman], [Mohammad] Nabi, Noor [Ahmad] and Qais [Ahmad] All of them have played a lot of cricket, and we have trust in them.”Â
