Indian cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal has been under the spotlight for a few days following his divorce rumours with Dhanashree Verma whom he married on 22 December 2020.
Yuzvendra Chahal – Dhanashree Verma divorce rumours start igniting after the couple unfollows each other on Instagram. The rumours intensified right after Chahal removed all the Instagram posts with Dhanashree Verma. Notably, Dhanashree Verma still has Chahal’s posts on her official Instagram handle.
Though the couple haven’t made any official announcements, reports citing sources close to them claimed that “divorce is inevitable” due to irreconcilable differences.
While social media is set on fire with the Yuzvendra Chahal – Dhanashree Verma divorce rumours, the leg spinner posted a cryptic story on Instagram on Saturday.
“Hard work spotlights the character of people. You know your journey. You know your pain. You know what all you have done to reach here. The world knows. You stand tall. You have worked with all your sweat to make your father and your mother proud. Keep standing tall like a proud son always,” read Chahal’s Instagram story.
Chahal who hasn’t made his test debut for India featured in 72 ODIs and 80 T20Is till date. Yuzvendra Chahal made his international debut in 2016 against Zimbabwe at Harare Sports Club on 11 June 2016 while Richmond Mutumbami was his first wicket in ODIs.
Chahal so far played 72 ODIs and 80 T20Is and bagged 121 and 96 wickets respectively. Chahal made his last international appearance for India back in August 2023 in a T20I match against West Indies at Lauderhill.
Earlier in an interaction with a sports media, Chahal opened up on not playing test cricket for India.
Though Chahal wasn’t seen in India jersey for a very long period, the 34-year-old is still one of the top spinners in the IPL and was among the most expensive players in IPL 2025 auction. Punjab Kings shelled out a massive INR 18 crore on Chahal in the IPL 2025 auction.
