Yasir Ali Ruled Out Of the West Indies Series After Failing To Recover From A Back Injury

The Bangladesh Cricket Board(BCB) confirms that batsman Yasir Ali Chowdhury has been ruled out of the ODI and T20I series against the West Indies.

During the Bangladesh Tour of West Indies 2022, both teams are scheduled to play 2 match test series, 3 matches T20I series, and as many as ODI match series.

Yasir Ali Ruled Out Of the West Indies Series

Yasir Ali Chowdhury suffered a back injury on the first day of the three-day warm-up match against the West Indies President XI in Antigua on June 10.

A subsequent MRI scan revealed Discogenic Back Pain on the Lumbar spine and the Yasir Ali Chowdhury was expected to take part in the white-ball series against West Indies.

Later BCB revealed that Yasir will not be able to recover in time and as a result, he will miss the entire ODI and T20I series against the West Indies.

However, it now appears that the batsman’s return to playing will be delayed. “Yasir Ali has not been recovering as anticipated from his back injury and could not start his rehab.

As he is still restricted in his physical work after nearly two weeks of rest, we can conclude that his injury time will be extended. He will be missing the remaining matches and is therefore out of the West Indies series,’‘ Bangladesh team physio Bayjedul Islam said in a statement on Wednesday.

BCB is yet to announce any substitute for Yasir for the white-ball series even though Anamul Haque was named as the backup for Yasir for the second Test. Yasir is returning to Bangladesh and will continue his recovery under the supervision of the BCB Medical Team.
