Batters Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill’s scintillating batting played a significant role in India’s 3-0 clean sweep against Sri Lanka. The series at Colombo has propelled several players up in the ICC T20I rankings.
The series ended with a thrilling super over victory for visitors at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium. Jaiswal and Shubman Gill have continued to rise in T20I rankings and following the T20 World Cup triumph, both players have been considered a formidable opener for the side.
Jaiswal’s stunning strike rate of 177.78 has propelled him to the fourth position in the T20I rankings, a two-spot jump. Meanwhile, Shubman Gill has made an even more significant leap, climbing 16 places to reach the 21st position with a career-best rating of 613.
Meanwhile, Suryakumar Yadav captained Team India in the recently concluded T20I series, continuing his stay on no.2 in the ICC’s T20I series followed by Australia batter Travis Head.
Another Indian batter Ruturaj Gaikwad has also been named in the top 10 rankings, while Jos Buttler is in the eighth spot. Ravi Bishnoi’s impressive performance in the Sri Lanka T20I series has earned him a significant boost in the bowling rankings.
He climbed eight spots to become the top-ranked Indian T20I bowler, currently holding the tenth position as the World’s number one T20I bowler. South Africa’s Anrich Nortje grabs the second spot followed by Rashid Khan and Sri Lanka’s Wanindu Hasaranga in the third and fourth place.
India’s pace attack has also seen a rise in rankings. Arshdeep Singh, who was also part of India’s T20 World Cup 2024 triumph, has moved four places to number 19. Washington Sundar and Mohammed Siraj have climbed to sixth and thirty-seven spots to secure 40 and 47th positions.
