Yashasvi Jaiswal Joins Mumbai’s Ranji Trophy Camp

Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal has joined Mumbai’s Ranji Trophy camp after confirming his availability for the next round of the Ranji Trophy.

He had a batting stint in the open nets session at the Bandra Kurla Complex Ground on Wednesday morning.

Jaiswal was India’s best batter during the Border Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 scoring 391 runs in 10 innings, including a match-winning 161-run knock in Perth.

After the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and head coach Gautam Gambhir made it clear that domestic cricket will have to be prioritised by those having red-ball aspirations, several Indian top stars have already made themselves available for respective state teams for Ranji Trophy 2024-25.

The Board had taken measures insisting all contracted players to play domestic cricket when they are are off national duties. BCCI further retiterated their stances in the recently held review meeting after the conclusion of the Border Gavaskar Trophy.

The Ranji Trophy will be a chance for the underperforming India stars to regain their form ahead of the next test cycle.

But, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma was not to be seen after turning up for a couple of practice on the opening day of training.

Meanwhile Rohit Sharma who batted alongside Mumbai captain Ajinkya Rahane on Tuesday is expected to resume training in a day or two. But it remains uncertain if the skipper would play in the next Ranji Trophy fixture.

Rahane seemed to be in his top form with some powerful flicks off the pads, it was Shivam Dube who was severe on both fast bowlers and spinner alike as he played an aggressive knock in his batting stint with the Mumbai captain.

On the other hand, the likes of Rishabh Pant and Shubman Gill have made themselves available for Delhi and Punjab respectively for the ongoing Ranji Trophy season.

Mumbai’s next match will be against Jammu and Kashmir on January 23 at MCA Cricket Ground.
