Jaiswal crosses 600-run mark in Test series
The Young batter Yashasvi Jaiswal becomes the fifth Indian to score 600+ scores in a test series on day 02 of the fourth test against England.
The left-handed batter who made his test debut during India’s tour of West Indies 2023, scored 55 runs not out and crossed 600-run make in the series.
Yashasvi Jaiswal was impressive throughout the series as he struck two double centuries in the second and third test.
The 22-year-old batter has joined Indian batting legends Sunil Gavaskar, Virat Kohli, Rahul Dravid, and Dilip Sardesai who scored more than 600 runs in a test series.
Virat Kohli, Sunil Gavaskar, and Rahul Dravid have amassed 600+ runs more than twice in their test career while Sardesai reached the landmark once in the home-away series against West Indies.
Gavaskar became the only Indian to score 700+ runs in a test series on two occasions. The Little Master also scored 732 runs in six Tests at 91.5 with four centuries during the West Indies tour of India in 1978-79.
The world record for most runs in a test series was held by an Australian batten named Donald Bradman who scored 974 runs in five tests against England with four centuries in 1930.
Coming to the match, England scored 353 runs in their first innings while India scored 219 runs for 7 wickets by the end of day 02.
Batting first, England struggled after losing 5 wickets for 112 runs before the lunch break of day 01. Akash Deep who made his test debut, dismissed England top order batters to create havoc in the batting line-up.
But soon the visitors got back into the competition after Joe Root smashed his 31st test century on day 01 of the fourth test. His century brought back England to score 302 runs losing 6 wickets by the end of the day 01.
He becomes the first-ever batter to score 10 test centuries against India. While resuming the match on day 02, England concluded their first innings after scoring 353 runs.
Ravindra Jadeja had a four-wicket haul while Akash Deep picked three wickets. Siraj bowled 18 overs to pick 2 wickets.
India started their first innings when Rohit Sharma was dismissed by James Anderson in the third over. India scored 34 runs losing one wicket before the lunch break on day 02.
Shubman Gill was sent back after scoring 38 runs in the first innings at Ranchi. With the middle order dismissed at regular intervals, Dhruv Jurel concluded the day standing unbeaten with 30 runs in the match. Kuldeep Yadav was with 17* runs at the end of day 02 at JSCA International Stadium Complex.
