Indian wicketkeeper batter KL Rahul who has been sidelined from many international series owing to his injury is expected to make his way back into the India squad for World Cup 2023.

KL Rahul was not named in the squad for the IRE vs IND T20I series where Sanju Samson and Jitesh Sharma were named keepers for India’s tour of Ireland 2023.

KL Rahul will be a key player for the Indian batting lineup and is expected to return to India’s squad for Asia Cup 2023 near soon. Recently, a video has been shared regarding KL Rahul’s injury update where the wicketkeeper batter can see practising in nets. The video suggests that KL Rahul’s return is not too far away.

He is said to return to action in Asia Cup 2023 based on his fitness. He has spent almost the last one and a half months at NCA in Bengaluru. Suddenly he took a break from the recovery process and went kayaking with his friends.

Even though KL Rahul had resumed his batting in the nets, he is not fit enough to play in the upcoming IRE vs IND T20 series where Bumrah has been named as the captain.

The delay in BCCI’s announcement on the Indian squad for Ireland’s tour was because the selectors want the exact reports on the recovery reports of KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer, and Jasprit Bumrah.

The presence of these players will have a huge impact on the performance of India’s Cricket team in the upcoming Asia Cup 2023 and World Cup 2023.

Hence the Ireland tour will be a good warmup match before big events like Asia Cup and World Cup 2023. Apart from KL Rahul, Jasprit Bumrah and Shreyas Iyer will also play a few practice games at the NCA.

KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer will not feature in India’s tour of Ireland 2023, but BCCI secretary Jay Shah has declared that Jasprit Bumrah is fit to play.

“Bumrah is totally fit, and he may go to Ireland,” BCCI secretary Jay Shah said.

KL Rahul will likely return to India’s side after his recovery process from a thigh injury he had during the Indian Premier League. He is currently undergoing recovery from a procedure to treat a thigh injury.

The injury happened on the edge of the boundary rope when KL Rahul tried to prevent a boundary in the match against RCB at Ekana Cricket Stadium. He was unable to move and was helped off the field by support staff.

He missed the IPL season where LSG finished third in the league stage but was beaten in the Eliminator. He also missed the World Test Championship finals against Australia and the India tour of the West Indies.
