Ahead of the Lucknow Super Giant’s clash against KKR, the Lucnow-based franchise confirms that they will appear in a special “Green And Maroon Jersey” as a tribute to the city and its famous football club Mohun Bagan Super Giant
As per the IPL 2024 schedule, Lucknow Super Giants were scheduled to face Kolkata Knight Riders to play the 28th league game of the season on April 14 in Eden Gardens, Kolkata.
Why Lucknow Super Giants Wear Green And Maroon Jersey
The Lucknow team, that wears the dark blue jersey, is donning green and maroon colour in the game against KKR in Kolkata on Sunday as a tribute to the city and its famous football club Mohun Bagan Super Giant. It is worth noting that Sanjiv Goenka’s RPSG group, which is the owner of LSG, also owns MBSG in the Indian Super League.
KKR Captain Shreyas Iyer who won the toss opted to bowl first and said “Feels nostalgic, the crowd is electrifying and this was what we missed playing out of Kolkata, great feeling to be back. I’ve no idea about the conditions, the last game was a belter, but we’re professionals and will have to adapt. Bowling first, so Rinku (Singh) goes out, Harshit Rana comes in,” informed Shreyas at the toss.
Meanwhile, LSG captain KL Rahul said, “I would have bowled first, but this does look like a good pitch. It was important to recover on a short turnover, it’s just about making sure that everyone is rested and recovered well. Few changes – (Devdutt) Padikkal and Naveen-ul-Haq miss out, Shamar Joseph and Deepak Hooda are back. Mohsin Khan is back as well.”
