The search for the term “who is Lawson Naidoo” became quite high right after ICC named Naidoo as one of its three representatives to review the delivery of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024.
On 22 July 2024, following the conclusion of the ICC Annual Conference in Colombo, the global governing body’s board appointed three of its directors – Roger Twose, Lawson Naidoo and Imran Khwaja to review the delivery of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, held in the USA and the West Indies between June 1-29 where India emerged as the winner of the tournament.
Lawson Naidoo is the chairperson of Cricket South Africa. In 2021, Naidoo was elected as the new chairperson of the CSA while Steven Budlender was chosen as the lead independent director at the first meeting of the new board.
Lawson has a legal background and is the Executive Secretary of the Council for the Advancement of the South African Constitution (CASAC) and a founding partner of the Paternoster Group, a political risk consultancy.
He has accumulated 25 years of experience in the political, parliamentary, business and NGO sectors.
Following his appointment as the new chairperson of the Cricket South Africa(CSA) in 2021, he said “I thank my fellow Board members for the confidence they have shown in electing me as chairperson. We are all well aware of the challenges facing us in making CSA a world-class sporting organization both on and off the field of play”.
