    Who is Gurjapneet Singh? Everything to Know about Tamil Nadu’s Pace Sensation

    Gurjapneet Singh, Tamil Nadu’s pace sensation has captured a lot of attention after his stunning performance in a crucial Ranji Trophy 2024 match, where he took six wickets for 22 runs during the match against Saurashtra.

    He picked the wickets of Cheteshwar Pujara and Jayde Unadkat in the second innings of the match.

    During the match, Saurashtra scored 203 runs in the first innings of the match. Responding to the total, Tamil Nadu put a score of 367 runs on the scoreboard. During Saurashtra’s second innings, Gurjapreet Singh played a crucial role in the bowling department.

    He even got a chance to bowl Virat Kohli during the time of the match test series against Bangladesh. Gurjapneet was one of the net bowlers for the team India.

    He recalled the memories saying, “After I bowled him, I looked at him and didn’t dare to look at him again. He was very, very angry. But I realised he was angry with himself more than anything. And after a straight drive, he again looked at me and smiled.”

    Who is Gurjapneet Singh?

    Gurjpneet Singh is an Indian fast-medium left-arm bowler born on November 08, 1998, and has played in TNPL for Siechem Madurai Panthers and Dindigul Dragons. He picked seven wickets in 9 matches he played in TNPL 2024.

    Known for his consistent ability to bowl at 130 kph, along with his Yorker skills and deceptive slower ball, he has made a name for himself in the Tamil Nadu Premier League.

    Despite being sidelined by a back injury in 2022, he made a stunning comeback picking 13 wickets in the 2023 TNPL season with an economy of 5.95.

    His experience as a net bowler for CSK and mentorship from Ravichandran Ashwin has helped a lot to improve his game. With eyeing on playing domestic season across the formats, Gurjapneet Singh will be considered as a star in Indian domestic cricket.

    During the IPL 2025 mega auction, Gurjapneet Singh was roped in by CSK for a price of INR 2.20 crore.
