The Pakistan all-rounder Salman Ali Agha has backed Babar Azam despite Pakistan Cricket having been underperforming in recent days.
The star cricket Babar Azam has scored only 320 runs in the last 15 innings in the red ball format. His impressive score comes from Babar Azam scored 161 runs against New Zealand in a Test match in December 2022.
Since then he has struggled to get runs under his belt and his performance affects the side’s entire performance. Despite being criticized about his form, Salman Ali Agha has come out in defense of the player.
“Babar Azam is a world-class player. As a cricketer, you go through these phases. He has scored consistently throughout the last five years. Soon, we will see him scoring big runs for Pakistan again,” said Agha by the end of Day 01 in the second test against Sri Lanka.
Meanwhile, Agha pointed out that the critics should also focus on the other players of the team highlighting that a single member could not be responsible for the team’s poor performance.
“As a cricketer, you have such phases in your life. There are 10 other players on the team, so you should focus on them. It’s fine if he’s struggling. He will return to scoring big runs very soon,” he added.
In the first test of the Bangladesh tour of Pakistan, Bangladesh scripted history by securing their first win over Pakistan.
