Kohli took only 23 innings to surpass the record set by Jayawardene who took 31 innings to achieve the feat. Former Australia all-rounder Shane Watson becomes the latest member of that community to praise Virat Kohli for his achievement.

Virat Kohli scored a match-winning knock of unbeaten 82 runs off 53 balls and leads India to a memorable win against Pakistan in the ICC T20 World Cup 2022.

“Over 1000 runs in T20 World Cups at an average of over 80, I am not able to get my head around this. T20 cricket is a high-risk game, high-risk batting and to think that he can do it at the biggest tournament, averaging so much and winning so many games for his country.

He is a freak and those statistics are super freakish. It’s incredible that you can bat in such a high-risk format and score consistently. It’s ridiculous,” Watson said on Star Sports.

Speaking on India’s match against Bangladesh, India won the match by 5 runs after the 2nd inns were reduced to 16 overs (DLS method) with a revised target 151. Batting first India scored 184 runs for 6 wickets where Virat and KL Rahul registered their half-centuries.

Indian skipper Rohit Sharma struggled to score runs and walked out after scoring just 2 runs. Post skipper’s dismissal, Virat and KL Rahul made an impressive partnership and scored 67 runs for the next wicket.

Bangladesh’s Hasan Mahmud bagged 3 wickets and restrict India from scoring big. On the other hand, Bangladesh started their chasing in an impressive manner where the openers scored 68 runs for the first wicket.

For Bangladesh, everything went down when the match stop started after the rain. KL Rahul has been the game-changer for India when he run-out Litton Das with a direct hit. Bangladesh started to lose wickets in regular interval post his dismissal.

Bangladesh was in need of 20 runs from the last 6 balls. Arshdeep Singh bowls the last over where Nurul Hasan struck a six off the second delivery and stuns the audience. With 7 needed off the last delivery, Arshdeep Singh bowls in the slot which Nurul Hasan managed to score a single.

With the victory, India moves to the top position of the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 Points table. India will play their last match of the tournament against Zimbabwe on November 06 in Melbourne Cricket Ground, Melbourne.
