Former Cricketer Vinod Kambli celebrated his 53rd birthday at the Thane hospital, sharing his gratitude towards the love and support he received while battling with health issues.
Kambli was admitted to Aakriti Hospital after his health suddenly deteriorated on December 23. Kambli has been struggling with alcohol issues and his health over time.
After two days, Kambli hinted at his recovery by singing a song after two days and hoped to be discharged within a couple of days and is optimistic about coming back stronger.
A viral video captured the former cricketer emotionally thanking the hospital staff and his fans for their support. Vinod Kambli celebrated the day by cutting a cake in the presence of his family and hospital staff.
This celebration comes shortly after Kambli’s public appearance at 50th anniversary celebration of Mumbai’s iconic Wankhede Stadium organised by MCA.

At the event, he was warmly greeted by fellow former cricketers Sanjay Manjrekar and Wasim Jaffer, highlighting the bonding within the cricket fraternity.
Vinod Kambli has had issues with his health over the years, he suffered a heart attack in 2013 despite undergoing angioplasty the year before to clear two blocked arteries.
In December 2024, he was diagnosed with brain clots leading to hospitalisation.
Vinod Kambli made his ODI debut for the Indian team in 1991 and made his test debut in 1993. Initially, he had performed well for Team India. He was the fastest batsman to score 1000 Test runs for India.
Kambli has scored a total of 1084 runs in 17 test matches for the Indian team which includes 4 centuries and three half-centuries.
Kambli first grabbed the limelight when he along with Sachin Tendulkar put on a record of 664-run stand in Harris Shield match in Mumbai in 1988.
Apart from this, he has scored 2477 runs in 104 ODI matches for team India, which includes two centuries and 14 half-centuries. He announced his retirement from first-class cricket on 22 September 2011.
His performance was very poor in the 2000s and due to this, he was out of Team India. He played his last ODI match for team India against Sri Lanka in the year 2000.
