Former Indian Player Wasim Jaffer was disappointed with Ishan Kishan’s performance on the 2nd T20I match against West Indies and named replacement for the player for the upcoming T20I series decider.
Jaffer names Yashasvi as Ishan’s replacement in 3rd T20I vs WI

Ishan Kishan had scored only 6 and 27 runs in the first 2 T20Is of the West Indies tour 2023. Wasim Jaffer feels Ishan Kishan should make way for young talents in the 3rd T20I of the series against West Indies on Tuesday.
Wasim Jaffer was worried about Ishan Kishan’s form, especially in the short format, despite his half-centuries in the ODI leg of the WI tour.
Since 2016, it was the first time Rahul Dravid coached India’s side and suffered continuous defeats against West Indies. Speaking after the 2nd T20I, Wasim insists on replacing Ishan with Jaiswal to open for India in the 3rd match.
Ishan Kishan had a below-average season with the bat in IPL 2023. He had played 15 matches in IPL where he scored 454 runs in 15 innings with a batting average of 30.
Jaiswal also has an average of 53.96 in 32 List A games, becoming the youngest double-centurion in the format when he scored 203 runs off just 154 balls for Mumbai in January 2019, scoring against Jharkhand at the age of 17.
Yashasvi Jaiswal made his IPL debut in 2020, but the 2023 season turned out to be the most important aspect in deciding his career. Only playing 14 matches for Rajasthan Royals, the batter scored 625 runs at a superb strike of 163.61. His average in the season was around 48.
He scored a century but should have been considered as two due to his score of unbeaten 98 off just 47 balls in his side Rajasthan Royals’ nine-wicket win over Kolkata Knight Riders.
Jaiswal now has the record for the fastest IPL 50s in that match and came within a ball of equalling Yuvraj Singh’s record of the fastest fifty in overall T20 cricket.
His test debut was also impressive as he scored 171 runs in the test match against West Indies on the WI tour 2023. He had scored 57 runs in the 1st innings of the second test.
It could be more interesting if Yashasvi Jaiswal replace Ishan Kishan for the series decider match of the T20I series on the WI tour 2023.
“I would pick Yashasvi Jaiswal without a doubt just because he brings that fearlessness. He plays spin well and his batting against fast bowling is exemplary. He’s right at the peak of his game, high on confidence, so why not throw him in the mix and see what you get?
He’s got runs in Tests and he’s looking for an opportunity. You might get a breath of fresh air like you did with Tilak Varma, so why not?” Jaffer added.
Earlier, youngster Jaiswal had scored a sublime century in his debut game for India against the West Indies. However, Jaiswal is yet to make his T20I debut in the Caribbean.
