Washington Sundar Injured his Right Hand Again Against CSK, Confirms Tom Moody

Washington Sundar injury Update: SRH premier all-rounder Washington Sundar endured another injury on his already injured bowling hand, a development which was confirmed by the franchise head coach Tom Moody after the clash.

The all-rounder was earlier forced to sit out for three matches due to split webbing in his bowling hand before making a comeback against Gujarat Titans.

“It’s very unfortunate that he had a knock on the same hand were he split his webbing. It had healed completely but he re-injured that area, it’s not injured to the point that he needs it re-stitched,” Moody said at the post-match presentation.

“But unfortunately, it wasn’t in a state were he could bowl. It really did have an impact on for us in that early phase of bowling, given he has such a critical bowler for us,” he added.

SRH’s bowling has been impressive this season but on Sunday they couldn’t turn up as a unit as not only did the likes of Umran Malik and Marco Jansen go for runs but they were also hit by injuries to Washington Sundar and T Natarajan.

Aiden Markram and Shashank Singh had to bowl 4 overs between them and that costed SRH 46 runs. At the post-match presentation, Kane Williamson acknowledged losing Washington Sundar was a costly affair.

“We had challenges trying to find overs in the first innings too. But they played well. We did not have all the resources going in, and unfortunately did not cross the line. We tried our best to adjust but losing Nattu and Washi was bad. We have to learn to deal with adversity as they can come up anytime”, he said about the lack of resources.

On how his team went about the chase he said, We chased well as the pitch slowed down. “We need to touch on things and move on, stay connected with what worked in the first half to come back by building on performances.”

SRH are still at the 4th position in the IPL 2022 points table but they would like to get back to winning ways as the tournament enters its business end.
