Australia batter David Warner has been ruled out of the ongoing Border Gavaskar Trophy 2023 owing to a hairline fracture on their left elbow, Cricket Australia has confirmed.
Warner Ruled Out of Last 2 Tests vs India
After sustaining a concussion last week, Warner was substituted out of the second Test in New Delhi. David Warner is expected to return to India vs Australia ODI series scheduled to start on March 17.
The 3-match ODI series will be played on March 17, 19 and 22 in Wankhede Stadium, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium and MA Chidambaram Stadium.
India vs Australia series will be the last series for India before heading to the IPL 2023. As per IPL 2023 schedule, the first match will be played between Chennai Super Kings and Gujarat Titans on March 31.
David Warner failed to prove his worth and scored just 26 runs from his three completed innings before being replaced by Matthew Renshaw as a concussion substitute in the second Test.
“David Warner has been ruled out of the Qantas test tour of India and will return home,” Cricket Australia said in a statement. “Warner was struck on the elbow in the second Test in Delhi and sustained a hairline fracture.
“After further assessment, he will require a period of rehabilitation which will preclude any further involvement in the remainder of the Test series.
“It is currently anticipated that he will return to India for the three One-Day Internationals which follow the Test Series,” the statement further read.
