Leg Spinner Wanindu Hasaranga has been named in the ODI squad for the upcoming Sri Lanka tour of New Zealand 2024-25.
The 27-year-old Hasaranga’s return to the ODI squad after missing the Afghanistan series due to a hamstring injury in November. Meanwhile, Dunith Wellalage not included in the T20I squad will be part of the ODI team.
The SLC has made four changes in the ODI squad from last month. Dushan Hemantha, Kusal Perera, Sadeera Samarawickrama, and Dishan Masudhanka are no longer in the squad.
Meanwhile Kusal Perera returned to the limited overs format after the 2023 World Cup during the pervious New Zealand series.
Nuwanidu Fernando, a batter who debuted against India in 2023, and has five ODIs under his belt will be joining the squad. Fast bowler Lahiru Kumara is also back after last playing against Bangladesh in March.
Uncapped pacer Eshan Malinga is a new addition to ODI squad and will be looking to make his international debut during the New Zealand series.
Key players like Charith Asalanka, Pathum Nissanka who are named in Sri Lanka Squad for T20I series will be leading the batting line up in the ODI squad as well.
With the T20I leg is set to begin to be played between, December 28 and January 02, the three ODIs are scheduled to take place next month with first match played on January 05 at Basin Reserve.
