Indian batter Virat Kohli yet again achieved another milestone by becoming the second player with the most international centuries next to Sachin Tendulkar’s 100 centuries.
Virat Kohli Surpasses Ponting in List of Most International Centuries
Virat Kohli surpassed Ricky Ponting’s 71-century count during India’s 3rd ODI against Bangladesh on December 10, 2022. Earlier that year on September 8, Virat Kohli scored his long waited 71st century nearly after 3 years, and equals Ricky Ponting’s count.
Virat Kohli now stands behind Sachin’s 100-century mark and next to Virat, Joe Root and David Warner are the active players with 44 centuries each.
Notably, this was Kohli’s first ODI century after more than three years. The 34-year-old also became the first player to score 1,000 or more runs against Bangladesh in ODIs. After Kohli scored his 72nd international ton, netizens took to Twitter to hail the star India batter.
A flick that ended a wait that lasted 1214 DAYS 🥺
