According to reports, Indian stars Virat Kohli and KL Rahul will not be available for the next round of Ranji Trophy games from January 23.
The reports claimed that Virat Kohli had neck pain and had taken an injection on January 08 after the conclusion of the Border Gavaskar Trophy.
It was stated that Kohli told BCCI medical staff that he was still experiencing pain which made his being ruled out of Delhi’s game against Saurashtra in Rajkot.
Meanwhile, KL Rahul is reported with an elbow issue which will keep him out of Karnataka’s match against Punjab in Bengaluru.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has imposed strict rules in its 10-point disciplinary guidelines for the Indian men’s national team players concerning family travel, baggage limits, and personal advertisement shoots.
BCCI has significantly reduced the allowances and luxuries previously to senior team players over the years. This was implemented following India’s disappointing loss in the Border Gavaskar Trophy series in Australia and has also failed to qualify for the WTC finals for the first time.
If the player is not available to play, he must get permission from the national chairman of selectors.
While Kohli and KL Rahul have another opportunity to play Ranji Trophy, with the final round is set to hit on January 30 which is close to the start of the ODI series of England’s tour of India 2025.
The squad for the ODI series is expected to be announced on January 18. On the other hand, Rishabh Pant (Delhi), Shubman Gill (Punjab) and Ravindra Jadeja (Saurashtra).
