Virat Kohli is on the verge of breaking Sir Don Bradman’s record in test cricket as team India prepares for the pink ball test of the Border Gavaskar Trophy.
The right-handed batter will have a chance to write his name in the record books. Bradman currently holds the record for most international centuries by a batter in a visiting country.
Bradman has 11 centuries to his name from 19 matches he played in England from 1930 to 1948.
Virat Kohli has racked up 10 hundred in 43 matches on the Australian soil since his red-ball debut in 2011. His best knock among those 10 hundred in Australia came in the Melbourne Test during India’s 2014-15 tour, when he scored 169.
Kohli tally of runs in Australia across formats currently stands at 2710 in 43 matches which gives him an impressive average of 54.20.
Jack Hobbs (9 centuries in Australia), Sachin Tendulkar (9 centuries in Sri Lanka), Sir Vivian Richards (8 centuries in England) and Sunil Gavaskar (7 centuries in West Indies) are also included in the list.
Kohli boasts an impressive record in Australia by amassing 2710 runs with an average of 54.20 including a top score of 169 which he scored back in December 2024 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
Kohli played a stunning knock in the Perth Test by scoring unbeaten 100 runs in the second innings of the first test where the visitors secured a 295-run victory at Perth.
Virat Kohli has been struggling with his form in test format before the start of the Australia tests. However, his century in the fixture might have provided the Indian team a relief that the one of their senior batters played a cruical role in the match.
Taking the 1-0 lead, India retained their top spot in the WTC points table with Australia slipped down to second place and further slipped down to third position after South Africa secured a win against Sri Lanka.
The second game of the Australia-India tests will begin on December 06 at Adelaide Oval.
