    Vinod Kambli Sings Song at Hospital Bed, Hints His Recovery

    Former Indian cricketer Vinod Kambli shared his positive health update, two days after being admitted to a Thane hospital after his health deteriorated.

    The left-handed batter revealed that he hopes to be discharged within a couple of days and is optimistic about coming back stronger.

    Kambli was admitted to the hospital in Thane and was rushed there on Saturday night. According to the news agency, the 52-year-old had been stable but critical, causing to remain under the doctor’s strict observation.

    Meanwhile Kambli was in good spirits and sang, “We are the Champions” signalling that he feels a lot better.

    “We are the champions, my friend. We will keep on fighting till the end. I will never leave cricket because I remember the number of centuries and double centuries I have hit.”

    A recent video of Sachin Tendulkar also surfaced when he met Kambli during Ramankant Acrekar’s funeral as the latter was looking in a delicate condition.

    The former left-handed batter struggling with alcohol addiction for quite a few years. While his former teammates including Kapil Dev offered help which Kambli accepted.

    “I’m ready to go for rehab. I want to go there because I don’t fear anything. My family is with me. Jadeja is a very good friend of mine. He came to meet me and said ‘Come on, get up’. A lot of people have called me lately. Everyone saw me. Definitely, they [BCCI] will help. Abey Kuruvilla (former India pacer) is with BCCI, he is in touch with me, and he is also in touch with my wife.”

    Vinod Kambli has had issues with his health over the years, he suffered a heart attack in 2013 despite undergoing angioplasty the year before to clear two blocked arteries.

    Vinod Kambli made his ODI debut for the Indian team in 1991 and made his test debut in 1993. Initially, he had performed well for Team India. He was the fastest batsman to score 1000 Test runs for India.

    Kambli has scored a total of 1084 runs in 17 test matches for the Indian team which includes 4 centuries and three half-centuries.

    Kambli first grabbed the limelight when he along with Sachin Tendulkar put on a record of 664-run stand in Harris Shield match in Mumbai in 1988.

    Apart from this, he has scored 2477 runs in 104 ODI matches for team India, which includes two centuries and 14 half-centuries. He announced his retirement from first-class cricket on 22 September 2011.

    His performance was very poor in the 2000s and due to this, he was out of Team India. He played his last ODI match for team India against Sri Lanka in the year 2000.
