The All-rounder Vijay Shankar has compared Shubman Gill and Hardik Pandya over their captaincy after the side’s defeat in the match against Lucknow Super Giants at Ekana Stadium in Lucknow.

The runners of the IPL 2023 season have started the 2024 season of the Indian Premier League with two wins and three losses from their opening five matches.

Currently, Gujarat Titans has secured the seventh place in the IPL 2024 points table. They have won the matches against Mumbai Indians and Sunrisers Hyderabad but lost the matches against Chennai Super Kings, Punjab Kings, and Lucknow Super Giants.

While speaking in the post-match conference, Vijay Shankar said there’s absolutely no difference in Shubman Gill and Hardik Pandya’s captaincy styles.

“Absolutely no difference. The only difference is if we’d won today’s game or the last game, things would have looked different. Otherwise, we batted well in the last matches and bowled well in this match. It’s just a collective thing, we can bring up both things together in one game, and that’s when we’ll start winning. That’s what we missed in the last two games,” said Shankar.

It was the first time that the Gujarat Titans had lost the match against Lucknow Super Giants. Vijay Shankar was named as the Player of the Match putting GT down for 130 runs in the second innings.

“We won two of our first three games. Winning is very important for everyone and we’re trying our best. Sometimes to cross the line, you need extra things and I’m sure the way we’ve worked with the team management, we’ll do well as a team. It’s just about showing character and raising our hands in difficult situations. We’ve lost a few matches but it’s not the end of the road for us. It’s a very long tournament,” Shankar added.

Gujarat Titans will be playing their next match against Rajasthan Royals on April 10 on a home-away tour at Sawai Mansingh Indoor Stadium.
