USA and Argentina U19 Men’s cricket teams are scheduled to play the 5th match of ICC U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup Americas Qualifier on August 14, 2023 at Toronto Cricket, Skating and Curling Club.
USA Men’s registered their second victory of the tournament and created a record by beating Argentina by a massive 450 runs difference.
Largest win margin in U19 World Cup Qualifier
The Americas qualifier will take place in a single division, with the tournament to be held in Canada from 11 to 18 August 2023 with four teams.
Winning the toss, Argentina U19s choose to bowl first where the openers Chettipalayam and Mehta had a partnership score of 197. Chettipalayam had scored 61 runs and Mehta had scored 136 runs out of 91 deliveries and was sent out on a run out.
The captain Ramesh had a century after the fall of Chettipalayam’s wicket. With Mahesh’s 67 runs out of 44 deliveries USA, batting order was good and Argentina’s bowlers could not hold them from scoring runs.
Arepally and Srivastava contributed scores of 48 and 45 respectively. Other batters like PM Patel and Nadkrani were sent out with low figures. By the end of 50 overs, USA had set up a huge score of 515 losing 8 wickets.
Unable to fold the USA, Argentina started their innings where the batters could not withstand the bowlers of the USA. Nadkarni is the hero of the match who scalped six wickets in six overs giving 21 runs.
On the fifth ball of the 20th over, Argentina was all out scoring only 65 runs. It was a huge victory for the USA with 450 run difference.
ICC u-19 World Cup 2024ICC U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup Americas Qualifier
The next edition of the ICC under-19 men’s cricket World Cup is scheduled to begin in 2024 in Sri Lanka. It is the fifteenth edition of the U-19 cricket World Cup and it is the third time to be hosted in Sri Lanka after the 2000 and 2006 events.
A total of 16 teams will be competing in the ICC tournament for the U19 category and a total of 41 matches will be played. 11 teams were selected automatically and qualified for the event from the previous event in 2022.
The 11 teams are India, Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, England, Ireland, Pakistan, South Africa, Sri Lanka, West Indies, and Zimbabwe where India is the defending champions.
The remaining spots will be filled by different regional qualifiers. USA and EAP are hosting one qualifying event and the winning teams will secure a spot in the tournament. Africa, Asia, and Europe have two qualifiers stage. The qualifiers in 2022 determine the team that will compete in the second event.
Asia, EAP, and Africa have completed their qualifiers, and Nepal, New Zealand, and Namibia have secured their place in CWC. Scotland had qualified in the Europe qualifiers which concluded on August 12.

The qualifiers for the USA are still online which is hosted by Canada. Argentina, Bermuda and the USA were aiming to secure the 16th and final qualification spot for CWC.
