Gujarat’s WK-batter Urvil Patel has begun seeking attention with two centuries in five games in the ongoing SMAT 2024 match against Uttarakhand. Days after breaking the record for the fastest century by an Indian batter from just 28 balls, he went for another century in 36 balls.
Urvil Patel whacked 11 sixes and 8 fours in his unbeaten 115 runs. He helped his team to chase the target of 183 at Emerald High School Ground, with 8 wickets in hand and 35 balls to spare.
While urvil Patel holds the second fastest T20 century his 36 ball hundred against Uttarakhand is the fourth fastest by an Indian batter. Rishabh Pant and Rohit Sharma are placed second and third in the list.
Rishabh Pant scored 30-ball century against Himachal Pradesh in SMAT 2018 whereas Rohit Sharma reached three figures from just 35 balls against Sri Lanka in 2017.

Urvil Patel was picked by Gujarat Titans in IPL 2022 mega auction and was associated with squad for the two seasons. The 26 year old went unsold in the IPL 2025 mega auction.
Urvil Patel has been went unsold during the IPL 2025 auction, and his centuries has sent a message to all 10 franchises days after the auction.
Earlier, Axar Patel won the toss and opted to bowl first. Uttarakhand openers Mukesh Gupta and Avneesh Sudhar were dismissed cheaply. Smarth R and Kunal Chandela got the innings back on track, before Chandela was dismissed by Vishal Jayswal.
He scored 43 runs from 27 balls, while Smarth scored 54 runs from 39 balls including six fours and two sixes. Jayswal got four wickets whereas wicketkeeper batter Aditya Tare’s 26-ball 54 helped Uttarakhand post 182/7.
Gujarat’s run chase off to an electrifying start with Urvil clearing the ropes with ease. Aarya Desai fell to Rajan Kumar after a 13-ball 23. In the next over, Abhishek Desai departed for seven-ball 18.
Urvil continued to dominate the bowlers and reached his century from 36 balls. He become the 11th batter to score two or more centuries in SMAT.
Axar remained unbeaten 28 off 18 balls including two sixes. This was Gujarat’s fifth win from six games. Gujarat will be playing their next match against Karnataka on December 05 at Holkar Stadium.
