The Uganda cricket team registered an unwanted history in the ongoing ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 in their clash against West Indies at Guyana.
West Indies were scheduled to face Uganda to play the 18th match of the tournament on June 8 in Providence Stadium, Guyana.
Uganda registered lowest all-out total in T20 World Cup
During the clash, West Indies contained Uganda for just 39 runs in their 170-plus run chase inning. Akeal Hosein played a vital role in West Indies’ success as the left-hander bagged five wickets at an economy rate of 2.80. Juma Miyagi’s unbeaten 13 remained the highest score for Uganda batters.

Speaking on the match, West Indies won the toss and opted to bat first. Brandon King and J Charles opened the inning and made a decent start by scoring 41 runs for the first wicket. Alpesh Ramjani made the first breakthrough by dismissing Brandon King for 13 runs.
West Indies who are well known for their explosive batting attack made a steady inning throughout the game. West Indies middle order batters none have crossed 140 plus strike rate and none have scored a half-century.
J Charles’ 44 off 42 remained the team’s highest score while Russell’s 30 off 17 which comes at a strike rate of 176.47 boosted the team’s score. At the end of 20 overs, West Indies scored 173 runs for 5 wickets loss.
On the other hand, Uganda made a worse start in their chasing inning. None of their top and middle order batters have crossed 10 runs mark with bat while Juma Miyagi’s unbeaten 13 is the only highest individual score for the team. Uganda loses all their 10 wickets for 39 runs at the end of 12 overs.
With the victory, West Indies gained a pump in their net run rate and positioned in the same second spot in the points table.
West Indies will play their next match of the tournament against New Zealand on June 13 while Uganda will play their last game of the group stage against New Zealand on June 15.
