The Opening batter Travis Head helped the side shatter multiple T20I records during the first T20I match of Australia’s tour of Scotland 2024.
Head equaled the record for the fastest half-century by an Australian men’s batter as the side secured a seven-wicket victory. He brought his half-century in just 17 balls. He scored 80 runs in 25 balls including 12 fours and five sixes where 78 runs came from boundaries.
Australia lost debutant Jake Fraser McGurk early in the first over of their run chase, but that didn’t stop Head and Marsh from attacking the hosts at every opportunity as they scored 113 runs in the powerplay.
It was the second-highest powerplay score in the T20I history when Romania scored 116 runs managed against Serbia in Sofia in 2021. Meanwhile, Sean Abbott picked three wickets while Xavier Bartlett and Adam Zampa picked two each.

Australia now leads the series 1-0 and Head said he wants to continue the attack on Friday.
While speaking at the post-match conference, Head said, “Obviously they (Scotland) are keen as (for the contest) and so are we. We want to start on the right foot,” Head said.
“We’ve got a couple of young guys in our team, a bit of a fresher group off the back of the T20 World Cup and I think everyone is keen to make a stance in international cricket.”
Meanwhile, Scotland captain Richie Berrington said that they were disappointed with the efforts from his side and are hoping to see them bounce back during the remainder of the series.
“We’re disappointed with how things ended up today, but it’s a great experience, especially for the younger guys who’ve come in,” Berrington said.
“We’ve got to learn from every experience, keep our belief, and come back strong for the next one.”
The second match of the T20I series will be played on September 06 at The Grange Cricket Club.
