“Just a Little Sore” Travis Head Provides Update on his Groin Injury

After his stellar performance in the Brisbane test, Travis Head has provided an update regarding his groin injury, which had raised concerns on his availability in the ongoing Border Gavaskar Trophy.

He was awarded Player of the Match for his exceptional innings of 152 runs off 160 balls and shared that he was feeling ‘just a little sore’ but expected to be fit and available for the next game.

In a candid post match interview Travis Head said, “Just a little sore but I should be fine.” His injury had been a topic of discussion, but this positive update indicates that it isn’t serious enough to derail his involvement in the remainder of the series.

The Australian team suffered another massive setback on Day 05 of the ongoing third test match of the Border Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 against Rohit Sharma-led India team.

Travis Head was the hero for Australia in the second test, where his team secured a 10-wicket victory and leveled the series 1-1 in the five match series. The left-handed batter continued his dominance in the third match as well.

He scored his second consecutive century in the first innings of the third test. Head’s injury adds Australia’s troubles after Josh Hazlewood was ruled out of the series due to calf injury.

“It doesn’t look good … this is a bigger loss than Josh Hazlewood, if Travis Head is out of this series (it’s huge), he’s been the one shining light with the bat. He’s very reluctant to stretch out and that’s really bad signs for the Aussies,” Brad Haddin said.

The five match series is currently tied 1-1, with India won the first test by 295 runs while Australia secured a 10-wicket victory in the second.

The third match of the BGT ended in draw after the rain spoiled the game on day 05 and both sides have one victory each. The fourth match of the Australia-India tests will be played beginning on December 26 at Melbourne Cricket Ground.
