Hardik Pandya Inspires Dressing Room Morale
Hardik Pandya and MI Coach Sachin Tendulkar have tried lifting dressing room morale after the side suffered defeat in the 8th match of the IPL 2024 schedule.
Mumbai Indians lost to Sunrises Hyderabad by 31 runs difference, but the match has broken several records in the IPL.
Sunrisers were involved in reaching a new high score in the IPL where they scored 277 runs for three wickets in 20 overs. Travis Head smashed a fifty on 18 deliveries and Abhishek Sharma smashed a half-century off 16 deliveries.
Heinrich Klaasen hit an unbeaten 80 runs off 34 balls with 4 fours and 7 sixes. All Mumbai bowlers had an economy of over 10. They put up a good fight but in the end, they scored only 246 runs losing 5 wickets.
However, Hardik Pandya gave a speech in the dressing room to lift the morale of the players.
“The toughest soldiers get the toughest test and we are the toughest team in the competition. Anyone who could have come even close to where we reached as a batting group is us.” Hardik said in a video.
Hardik Pandya, the MI Captain backed his bowlers despite suffering the defeat in the match, saying no one ran away from responsibility even though SRH was batting at the limits to put up the highest total score in the match.
“Something that I am really proud of is our bowlers. Even when the day was tough, I didn’t see anyone running away. Everyone wanted the ball in their hands, I think that’s a good sight,” he added.
“Let’s make sure we help each other throughout, whatever happens, worst, bad or good, we will manage it together. And we will be together.”
With the defeat in their second match, Mumbai Indians stand 9th in the IPL 2024 points table. Mumbai will be desperate for a win when they meet Rajasthan Royals on April 01 at Wankhede Stadium.
