The Gujarat Titans might be looking for a suitable replacement for Gerald Coetzee in IPL 2025 after sustaining a groin injury during the first test against Sri Lanka in Durban.
He missed the remaining series and will the upcoming all-format series against Pakistan. Gerald Coetzee joined the Gujarat Titans camp for a price of INR 2.4 crore at the IPL 2025 auction.
Coetzee made his IPL debut during the 2024 season for Mumbai Indians and played 10 matches picking 13 wickets at an average of 26.23.
With the uncertainty around Coetzee’s participation in the competition next year, Gujarat Titans might be looking for a replacement and explore the pool of unsold players to find a suitable replacement for the player.

Mustafizur Rahman (Bangladesh)
Mustafizur Rahman is one of the most experienced bowlers in T20 cricket. He played a vital role in the SRH’s IPL 2016 title winning campaign. Despite being a star performer, Mustafizure Rahman did not find a team in the IPL as he went unsold during the 2025 auction.
Rahman has played 57 IPL matches and picked 61 wickets with an average of 28.99. Known for his slower balls and death over expertise, Rahman could be handy for Gujarat Titans to bring quality to bowling department in the absence of Gerald Coetzee.
Alzarri Joseph (West Indies)
The West Indies pacer Alzarri Joseph is an other formidable contendor to replace Coetzee in the GT squad. Alzarri’s bowling style is similar that of Coetzee thrives on back of the length deliveries.
Alzarri Joseph has played 22 IPL matches and picked 21 wickets. Gujarat’s home pitch Ahmedabad has a bit of extrac pace and bounce will assist the tall fast bowler. Alzarri Joseph was suprisingly unsold at the mega auction, but could find a way back into the league as a replacement player.
Daniel Sams (Australia)
Australian all-rounder Daniel Sams has some vast experience of playing different T20 leagues across the globe and has played a total of 16 matches and picked 14 wickets with an average of 37.36.
His arrival could provide the left-arm variation to GT pace attack will be headed by Mohammed Siraj and Kagiso Rabada.
Adding to his bowling abilities, Sams is also a handy lower order power hitter who can add value runs at the end of innings.
