Bangladesh who took a lead in the two-match Test series against Pakistan included Taskin Ahmed in their playing 11 for the second test at Rawalpindi.
Taskin Ahmed replaced injured Shoriful Islam who suffered a niggle ahead of the second and last test of the Bangladesh tour of Pakistan 2024. With Mushfiqur Rahim’s impressive 191, Bangladesh won the first test of the series by 10 wickets and lead the series.
Notably, the 10-wicket victory in the first test will be the first-ever test victory for Bangladesh against Pakistan. Before the first test at Rawalpindi, Pakistan and Bangladesh played 13 tests where Pakistan won 12 and a match ended in drawn.
With a defeat in the first test, Pakistan are under pressure to win the second and last test match to level the series and avoid the whitewash in their home.
After winning the toss, Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto said “We will bowl first, there’s some moisture and it should help our pacers. We played good cricket in the last match, but that was past and we’re looking forward to this game. Shoriful has a niggle and he’s replaced by Taskin”.
