The Right hand batter Suryakumar Yadav will be joining the Mumbai Indians and is set to feature for the franchise in the ongoing IPL 2024 tournament.
Suryakumar Yadav Set to Join MI Camp
The No.1 T20I batter Suryakumar Yadav has cleared his fitness test at NCA and will be joining the MI Camp on April 05. He made his last appearance in competitive cricket in December 2023 during the third T20I match of India’s tour of South Africa.
Suryakumar Yadav suffered from a grade 2 tear of his ankle injury and later he underwent surgery for a sports hernia and was in NCA to complete his rehabilitation process.
Due to the injury, he missed the T20I series on Afghanistan’s tour of India 2024 which was the last T20I schedule for India before the Men’s T20 World Cup 2024.
He has played in 13 seasons of the Indian Premier League and amassed a score of 3249 runs across the tournament. During the 2023 season, he picked up 605 runs in 16 matches he played with a high score of 103* and a strike rate of 181.14.
The 33-year-old will be joining the team in their practice session at Wankhede Stadium as they prepare for the clash against Delhi Capitals on April 07. It will be management’s call based on how he plays in the nets session.
Mumbai Indians had a poor start as they lost the first three matches of the IPL 2024 schedule under new MI captain Hardik Pandya. They suffered defeats in the matches against Gujarat Titans, Sunrisers Hyderabad, and Rajasthan Royals.
Suryakumar Yadav’s joining might help the side to recover from back-to-back defeats. According to the IPL 2024 points table, Mumbai was pushed to the bottom of the table and looking for a victory in upcoming matches to rise in the points table.
Mumbai Indians will be playing their next match against Delhi Capitals on April 07 at Wankhede Stadium.
