Suresh Raina’s Father Died After Losing Battle With Cancer

Former Indian Cricketer Suresh Raina’s father Trilokchand Raina passed away due to cancer.

Suresh Raina’s father, Trilokchand, was a military officer, who belonged to Jammu and Kashmir’s Rainawari and had moved to Uttar Pradesh in the 1990s. Rain’s father, Trilokchand had worked in an ordinance factory, which was specialties in manufacturing bombs.

In the 1990s, Trilokchand left his village and settled down in the Muradnagar town. Suresh saw financial struggles in his childhood as his father had a salary of INR 10,000 per month. Hence, he couldn’t afford the high cricket coaching fees for his son.

The former Indian batter would often share pictures with his father alongside heartwarming messages. As fans got to know about the development, condolences came in from different corners.

Raina’s Teammates Condoles the Demise

Raina’s former India and Chennai Super Kings teammate Harbhajan Singh expressed his sorrow at the passing of Raina’s father. Taking to Twitter, Harbhajan paid his condolences saying, “Very sad to hear Suresh Raina’s father @ImRaina RIP uncle.”

Former India opener Gautam Gambhir also condoled the demise. “Saddened to hear about the demise of @ImRaina’s father. May God gives strength to the family & loved ones,” tweeted Gambhir.

Speaking of Raina’s career, he started his career when he was admitted to the Guru Gobind Singh sports college, Lucknow, in 1998. Suresh Raina had made his debut in Indian cricket in an ODI match against Sri Lanka in Dambulla.

He had made a massive name for himself with his all-rounder quality. He had won the 2011 World Cup and the 2013 Champions Trophy, under Dhoni’s captaincy.

Raina announced his international retirement on August 15, 2020, alongside MS Dhoni. Right after his retirement announcement Suresh Raina opted out of the IPL 2020 owing to personal reasons.

Raina was released from the squad ahead of IPL 2022 mega auction following his struggled IPL 2021 season where CSK lifts the trophy for the 4th time.

The 35-year old Raina who represented India in 18 Tests, 226 ODIs, and 78 T20s, hasn’t played any competitive cricket since IPL 2021.
