IPL 2016 winning team Sunrisers Hyderabad broke an 11-year-long record for the highest total in IPL history created by RCB in IPL 2013.

SRH broke the record for the highest total in IPL during a league match in IPL 2024 played against Mumbai Indians. As per the IPL 2024 schedule, Mumbai Indians were scheduled to face SRH on March 27 in Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad.
Notably, RCB who held the record earlier scored 263 runs in their home venue while SRH also scripted the history in their home venue under Pat Cummins.
Winning the toss, Mumbai Indians opted to bowl first where Mayank Agarwal and Travis Head opened the inning on behalf of SRH.
SRH’s opening batter who missed out on the first match of the season made an aggressive start while Mayank Agarwal made a steady start. Hardik Pandya who went wicketless in the 1st match of the season bagged his first wicket by dismissing Mayank Agarwal for 11 runs.
Following his dismissal, Head and Abhishek Sharma made an outstanding partnership by scoring 68 runs for the second wicket. SRH’s opening batter Head made an outstanding inning and scored the fastest half-century for SRH in IPL.
Soon after Head’s dismissal for 62 runs, Abhishek Sharma broke the Head’s record and became the player to score the fastest half-century for SRH in IPL history.
With Klaasen’s extraordinary unbeaten 80 runs, SRH scored 277 runs at the end of 20 overs.
With the score, SRH broke the 11 years of standing record created by RCB and became the team to score the highest total in IPL history.

As far as the match is concerned, Mumbai Indians failed to chase down the mammoth target and fell 31 runs short and lost their second consecutive game of the season.
