Stuart Broad joins the elite 600-wicket club
Stuart Broad takes 600 Test wickets: Broad (600) is now only the fifth man to reach the milestone and the second England player after James Anderson (688). The English Fast Bowling duo of Broad and Anderson are the only pacers to be part of the 600-wicket club.
Broad’s early lbw dismissal of Usman Khawaja on day one of the fourth Ashes Test took him to 599 and he then ended a solid innings for Head as he clipped one out to Joe Root at the start of the evening session.
Along with this milestone, he also becomes the 3rd bowler and 2nd Englishman with most wickets at home in this test format with 394 Test wickets on England soil. Muthiah Muralidharan stays in top with 493 Test Wickets in Sri Lanka and James Anderson with 432 Test Wickets in England.
He also surpassed Ian Botham(148 Wickets) as the England bowler with the most wickets against Australia. With two wickets during the 4th Ashes Test Series, Broad picks 149 Wickets against Australia, the most by an England player. Also, Broad’s 149 wickets versus Australia are also the most by any bowler against them.
Broad is now the third-highest wicket-taker in the Ashes, behind only Shane Warne (195) and Glenn McGrath (157).
17 Number of times David Warner has got out to Broad in Test cricket, the joint-third most dismissals for a batter against a bowler in the format. Broad had Warner’s wicket in both innings of a Test on four occasions, the joint-most times any bowler had dismissed a particular batter twice in a Test.
