The all-rounder Stafanie Taylor will miss the upcoming ODI and T20I series of the India tour as she continues her rehabilitation from an injury.
The news comes after the announcement of the West Indies squad for the white ball formats, which will mark the return of Deandra Dottin to the squad after reversing international retirement from 2022.
Meanwhile, fast bowler Shabika Gajnabi and wk-batter Rashada Williams will be returning to the squad after missing the World Cup in October this year. The West Indies regular captain Hayley Matthews will be leading the side for the India tour.
“We want to take the good momentum we gained at the T20 World Cup into this series. We showed that we can compete against the top teams which was pleasing,” sad head coach Shane Deitz.
“Since I’ve taken over, I’ve seen improvements in all areas, but we still have a long way to go.”
“The consistency of high-level performance is what we need to keep working towards and this is a good opportunity to play six matches against one of the best teams in the world.”
“We want to get more girls involved with franchise cricket moving forward and looking toward India, it’s always good to play in front of the Indian IPL teams.”
“It is good for our ladies to start getting their names in front of those people, to hopefully open some opportunities in the future,” Deitz added.
West Indies’ last white ball series in India soil came eight years ago in 2016, where they secured a 3-0 clean sweep but were on the losing side in the ODIs.
Coming to the series, the T20I series will commence before the ODI series starting on December 15 at Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai.
