Sri Lanka legend Chaminda Vaas suggest Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma should take a break from cricket post the IPL 2022.
Chaminda Vaas Advices Virat and Rohit
Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma wrapped the season after scoring only 268 runs in 14 innings at a strike rate of 120.18. The five-time IPL trophy winner Mumbai Indians have gone through a rough patch this season and become the first team to knock out from IPL 2022.
Apart from IPL 2022 performance, the Indian cricket fans’ eyes were on the upcoming T20 world cup 2022 in Australia. Many suggest a mixed combination of suggestions for this duo to come up from their lean patch.
There is no doubt that Virat and Rohit’s performance will make a huge impact on the Indian cricket team in the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup.
Chaminda Vaas now joins the list and advice this duo to take a before the upcoming major event.
“It is not correct to talk about the possibility of performing in the T20 World Cup on the basis of IPL’s form. Anyway, Virat has played some good innings in the last round of the tournament. Both Virat and Rohit are match-winning players.
I think both of them needed a break from cricket before the World Cup and the selectors have also given them rest for the T20 series against South Africa.
This will benefit him and he will not only come back fresh but also be more dangerous. India becoming champion in the T20 World Cup will depend a lot on the performance of these two,” he said.
Kohli, on the other hand, has managed 341 runs in 16 innings at 22.73 and a strike rate of 115.99 with two half-centuries. The numbers are the lowest since 2012 for the former India skipper.
