The Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) Board has added an ODI game to Australia’s tour of Sri Lanka as a part of preparation ahead of the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025.
Originally the tour was set to play an ODI alongside two test matches which is part of the ICC World Test Championship cycle. With the revised schedule, both teams will now compete in two ODIs and two test matches.
The two matches will take place on February 12 and 14 at the Premadasa Stadium and the game starts just two days after the fifth day of the finals test in Galle.
However, Australia have nine players in their preliminary Champions Trophy Squad who aren’t part of the test series including Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood.
Australia’s ODI players are expected to arrive in Sri Lanka around the start of the second test. The Aussies first match in the Champions Trophy is against England on February 22.
Sri Lanka aren’t part of the Champions Trophy for the very first time in the tournament history after they failed to meet the qualification criteria.
Meanwhile CA has announced the Australia squad for the Sri Lanka tests while the hosts are yet to unveil the squad for the series.
The first match of the test series will be played between January 29 at February 02 at Galle International Stadium.
Revised schedule:
- First Test: 29 January – 2 February, Galle
- Second Test: 6 – 10 February, Galle
- First ODI: 12 February, Colombo
- Second ODI: 14 February, Colombo
