The Sunrisers Hyderabad management has considered a change in captaincy for the upcoming IPL 2024.
SRH Eyes on Captaincy Change
The SRH is not satisfied with the results of the team’s performance under Markram’s captaincy and is looking for a new captain for the upcoming IPL season.
They are looking forward to making Pat Cummins the new captain who was bought by the franchise for INR 20.50 crores during a mini-auction in December last year.
Cummins’ arrival to the franchise after guiding the national side to the ODI World Cup and WTC 2023 titles. He has worked with SRH head coach Daniel Vettori who is also the assistant coach of the Australia men’s national cricket team.
Sunrisers Hyderabad finished the previous season as last in the points table with just four wins out of 14 games. On the other hand, Markram guided Sunrisers Eastern Cape to successive SA20 titles in the last month.
On the other hand, Pat Cummins’ recent success as an international captain might push the management to make bold decisions.
Sunrisers’ bowling coach Dale Steyn has requested a break from the 2024 edition and the management is looking for a replacement. Steyn has previously played for the franchise in 2011-2015.
The 17th edition of the Indian Premier League is set to commence on March 22. Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore playing in the first match of the IPL 2024 schedule.
With only the first part of the IPL 2024 fixtures has been released, the remaining fixtures will be released after the announcement of the election dates in India.
