IPL 2024 SRH vs MI Highlights: Mumbai Indians really are going through a tough phase as they registered their second consecutive defeat of the season.
Heinrich Klaasen Helps SRH to Create History
As per the IPL 2024 schedule, Mumbai Indians are scheduled to face SRH on March 27 in Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad. Mumbai Indians who played their first match of the season against Gujarat Titans lost the game by 6 runs and failed to break their decade-long jinx of losing their first match of the respective season.
SRH who played their first game of the season against KKR also lost their match by just 4 runs in a thrilling final over match.
Both teams who were desperate to register their first win of the season were scheduled to face each other in Hyderabad.
Winning the toss, Mumbai Indians opted to bowl first where Mayank Agarwal and Travis Head opened the inning on behalf of SRH.
SRH’s opening batter who missed out on the first match of the season made an aggressive start while Mayank Agarwal made a steady start. Hardik Pandya who went wicketless in the 1st match of the season bagged his first wicket by dismissing Mayank Agarwal for 11 runs.
Following his dismissal, Head and Abhishek Sharma made an outstanding partnership by scoring 68 runs for the second wicket. SRH’s opening batter Head made an outstanding inning and scored the fastest half-century for SRH in IPL.
Soon after Head’s dismissal for 62 runs, Abhishek Sharma broke the Head’s record and became the player to score the fastest half-century for SRH in IPL history.
With Klaasen’s extraordinary unbeaten 80 runs, SRH scored 277 runs at the end of 20 overs.
With the score, SRH broke the 11 years of standing record created by RCB and became the team to score the highest total in IPL history.

On the other hand, Mumbai Indians opening duo – Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan made an aggressive start and pushed the team’s score to 50 in 3 overs.
But Shahbaz Ahmed dismissed Ishan Kishan for 34 runs and made the much-needed breakthrough. Soon after Kishan’s dismissal, Rohit also lost his wicket to Cummins after scoring 26 runs.
Following the duo’s dismissal, the momentum in the game reduced where the new batters took their time to settle down.
While Tilak Varma showed some promise in the historic run chase, SRH skipper Cummins dismissed him for 64 runs. With 52 needed off the final 10 deliveries, Mumbai’s chances of chasing the record-breaking target almost become zero.
At the end of 20 overs, Mumbai Indians scored 246 runs for 5 wickets loss and fell 31 runs short for the victory. This will be the Mumbai Indians’ consecutive defeat of the season.
Abhishek Sharma has been crowned as the player of the match for his aggressive 63 runs off 23 balls which he scored at a strike rate of 273.91.
