The South African cricket team has been fined in a bizarre manner in their last game against Zimbabwe which has been washed out by rain.

Bavuma-led South African cricket team has been scheduled to play their first match of the ICC T20 World Cup Super 12 round against Zimbabwe on October 24 in Bellerive Oval, Hobart.
The 18th match of the T20 World Cup 2022 has been interfered by rain where the officials decides to reduce the over to 9 for each innings. Winning the toss Zimbabwe opt to bat first where they scored 79 runs off 5 wickets.
The incident takes place during the last over of the 1st innings. Nortje bowled the over while Milton Shumba made a reverse scoop and the ball goes off the back of the bat to fine-leg.
Though the Zimbabwe batter made just a single run off that shot, de Kock’s mistake bagged them an additional 5 runs. Players were baffled by the umpire’s decision of granting 5 runs as a penalty.
Soon the on-field umpire clears the air by explaining the reason for granting penalty runs for Zimbabwe.
The reason for 5 runs penalty: While Zimbabwe batters start to run between the wickets, South African player Ngidi who stood at the fine leg collected the ball and threw it to Quinton-de-Kock.
The keeper threw one of his gloves on the surface, in a bid to throw the ball after collecting, but the ball touched the thrown glove and as per the laws of cricket, Zimbabwe were awarded five extra runs. The penalty was for the ball hitting an object intentionally placed on the field of play.

Though South Africa started their second innings in a much-impressed way to chase down the target of 80 runs the rain intervenes again. As the match has not met the needed time, match officials have called off the match and shared the points.
South Africa will play their second match of the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 on October 27 against Bangladesh at Sydney Cricket Ground, Sydney.
