The star batter Smriti Mandhana has become the fastest Indian woman to reach 4000 ODI runs during the first ODI match against Ireland on January 10.
She has become the 15th woman in the world to surpass the 4000-run mark in ODIs and only second Indian to do so after Mithali Raj. Mandhana reached the landmark in the ninth over of India’s chase taking a single off Arlene Kelly during the first ODI of Ireland women’s tour of India 2024-25.
Leading the team in the absence of regular captain Harmanpreet Kaur, who was resting Mandhana played a quicke firec knock of 41 runs from 29 balls. Her innings included a crucial 70-run partnership with Pratika Rawal, giving India a solid start in their chase of 239.
This was Mandhana’s 95th ODI match in the format, making her the fastest Indian woman and the third fastest overall to achieve 4000-run milestone. She also became the first Indian woman to reach this milestone in fewer than 100 innings.

Meanwhile Mithali Raj stands top with 7805 runs, remains India’s leading run-scorer in women’s ODIs, with Mandhana now second on the list.
Mandhana’s stellar performance have been a key asset for India and concluded as the highest run-scorer in the both ODIs and T20Is and broke the record for the most international runs by a woman cricketer across formats in a calendar year.
She also scored 10 century in India’s only test match in 2024 and also smashed four ODI centuries during the year, the most by any player in history.
Ireland’s tour of India is the the last final assignment in the ICC Women’s Championship 2025 before the players shift focus to the Women’s Premier League.
With her ability to performa consistently, Smriti Mandhana has cemented her spot as one of the finest batters of women’s cricket, carrying forward the legacy of Indian great Mithali Raj.
Coming to the match, Ireland batted first and scored 238 runs with Gaby Lewis scored 92 runs on 129 deliveries while Leah Paul scored 59 runs. Priya Mishra picked two wickets for India while Titas Sadhu, Sayali Satghare and Deepti Sharma picked a wicket each.
Meanwhile Pratika Rawal scored 89 runs on 96 deliveries while Tejal Hasabnis and Smriti Mandhana are the other scorers with unbeaten 53* and 41 runs helping the side to win the match by six wickets at Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium.
