T20 World Cup 2024 SL vs BAN: After losing their first match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, Sri Lanka was expected to bounce back in their second game against Bangladesh. But with an exceptional bowling spell from Bangladesh bowlers, Lanka slips from 100/3 to 124/9 in Dallas.

Sri Lanka and Bangladesh were placed in Group D alongside South Africa, Netherlands and Nepal. After losing their first game to South Africa, Sri Lanka was scheduled to face Bangladesh on June 8 at Dallas.

Bangladesh Bowlers Shines in SL vs BAN Clash at Dallas

While every Sri Lankan fan expected an impressive inning in the game, Bangladesh bowlers scattered their hopes and restricted Lanka for 124 runs.

Mustafizur Rahman who was in an outstanding form in the recently concluded Indian Premier League 2024 bagged three wickets at an economy of 4.20. Apart from him, Rishad Hossain and Taskin Ahmed also played key roles in their team’s successful bowling attack.

Shakib Al Hasan’s 30 in 3 overs was the highest return for the Tigers. Speaking of the game, Bangladesh won the toss and opted to bowl first where Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Mendis opened the inning for Sri Lanka.

As of their first match of the tournament, Sri Lankan opening batters once again failed to make an impressive performance. Sri Lanka lost their first wicket after scoring just 21 runs.

Bangladesh’s Taskin Ahmed drew the first blood for Sri Lanka by dismissing Kusal Mendis for 10. Though SL lost their first wicket at an early stage of the match, Nissanka poses a great threat with his timing knocks.

Nissanka scored 16 runs in the fifth over bowled by Shakib Al Hasan and moved Lanka near fifty runs mark. But Mustafizur in his very first delivery dismissed Kamindu Mendis and broke the partnership.

Sri Lankan batters struggled to face Bangladesh bowlers and lost their wickets in a regular intervals of time. Their 30-run partnership for the 4th wicket was the highest stand for Sri Lanka.

Mustafizur Rahman played a vital role by bagging three wickets for 17 runs at an economy of 4.20. Along with him, Rishad Hossain also bagged three wickets for 22 runs at an economy of 5.50.

Taskin Ahmed bagged a couple of wickets and Tanzim Hasan Sakib bagged a wicket and helped in the team’s performance. Shakib Al Hasan and Mahmudullah returned wicketless.
