Shubman Gill Words on defeat against Delhi Capitals- IPL 2024 GT vs DC

The Gujarat Titans skipper Shubman Gill has opened on the side’s defeat against Delhi Capitals in the 32nd match of the IPL 2024 schedule played at Ahmedabad Stadium.

Delhi Capitals won the match after chasing 89 runs and secured 6th position in the IPL 2024 points table. While Speaking at the post-match conference Shubman Gill said, “Our batting was very average, and it is important to move on and come back strong. The wicket was alright, if you see some of the dismissals, it had nothing to do with the pitch.”

“Poor shot selection I would say. When the opposition is chasing 89, unless someone takes a double hat-trick, the opposition will always be in the game. This is just the halfway mark of the season for us, we have won 3 and hopefully, we win another 5-6 from the next 7 like in the last couple of years,” concluded Shubman Gill.

Coming to the match, Delhi Capitals won the toss and opted to bowl, where their plot worked as per the plan making Gujarat all-out for 89 runs.

Batting first, Gujarat Openers Shubman Gill and Wriddhiman Saha were sent out with 8 and 2 runs by Ishant and Mukesh Kumar respectively. With the dismissal of Sai Sudharsan on a run out for 12 runs, Gujarat’s top order collapsed and David Miller was sent out with 2 runs.

Gujarat Titans scored only 30 runs by the fall of the fourth wicket. Tristan Stubbs sent out Abhinav Manohar who scored 8 runs on the 9th over.

Gujarat Titans were all out for 89 runs at Ahmedabad where Tristan Stubbs, Mukesh Kumar, and Ishant Sharma picked wickets at regular intervals entirely collapsing Gujarat’s batting lineup.

Rashid Khan was the only scorer for Gujarat Titans as he scored 31 runs on 24 deliveries. Rishabh Pant’s plot on bowling setup helped the side to force Gujarat Titans all-out for a low score.

He was involved in the dismissals of David Miller, Abhinav Manohar, Shahrukh Khan, and Rashid Khan. Shahrukh was sent out on a golden duck by Tristan Stubbs. Khaleel Ahmed and Axar Patel were the other wicket-takers for DC picking one wicket each.  With Rashid Khan’s help, the Gujarat Titans scored 89 runs.

With the target of 90 runs, Delhi Capitals decided to play aggressive batting and planned to complete the match within 10 overs to raise the run rate. Prithvi Shaw and Jake Fraser scored 7 and 20 runs while Abhishek Porel and Shai Hope were sent out with 15 and 19 runs respectively. With Rishabh Pant’s 16 runs DC completed the match in 8.5 overs in Narendra Modi Stadium.
