The BCCI revealed that the Indian opener Shubman Gill will be missing the second match in the World Cup 2023 against Afghanistan.

The Young player Shubman Gill was rested during India’s first World Cup match in 2023 against Australia. He has suffered from illness since the Indian team’s arrival in Chennai to play their match against Pakistan. His diagnosis confirmed that he is suffering from dengue.

On this occasion, the Indian medical team has given an update on the player’s health. With reference to the reports from the medical team, BCCI secretary Jay Shah said, “Team India batter Shubman Gill will not be traveling with the team to Delhi on 9th October 2023.

He will stay back in Chennai and will be under the supervision of the medical team.”

The opening batter who missed the team’s first fixture in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 against Australia in Chennai is set to miss the team’s next fixture against Afghanistan in Delhi on the 11th of October.

Winning the toss Australia chose to bat where David Warner and Mitchell Marsh opened the innings while Jasprit Bumrah opened the bowling attack.

India has planned to field three spinners Kuldeep Yadav, Ravindra Jadeja, and Hardik Pandya against Australia. Winning the toss, Australia won the toss and opted to bat. David Warner and Mitchell Marsh opened the innings while Jasprit Bumrah opened the bowling attack.

David Warner had a good start as he scored 41 and was dismissed by Kuldeep Yadav, while Mitchell Marsh was sent out with a duck by Bumrah. Warner became the fastest to score 1000 runs in ODI World Cups with a boundary on the seventh over.

Steven Smith scored 46 on 71 deliveries including four boundaries before getting dismissed by Ravindra Jadeja. He was impressive as he dismissed Marnus with 27 runs and Alex Carey with a duck. His 3/28 figures in the match are his career best. With his three wickets dismissal, he joins the list of most wickets for India vs Australia in ODIs.

Kuldeep Yadav and Jasprit Bumrah dismissed two wickets each while Mohammed Siraj, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Hardik Pandya dismissed one wicket each. Australian batters struggled to score runs against India’s intense bowling attack and was sent out on regular interval.  By the end, Australia scored 199 runs losing all 10 wickets on the 3rd ball of the last over.

With the target of 200 runs, India started their innings where Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan opened the innings while Mitchell Starc opened the bowling attack.

Ishan Kishan was sent out with a duck on the fourth ball of the innings by Mitchell Starc. With the dismissal of the Indian skipper Rohit Sharma and Shreyas Iyer by Hazlewood on a duck in the second over, India was down to three for two runs by the end of 2nd over. Hazlewood dismissed two wickets on his first over in the innings.

With the partnership of Virat Kohli and KL Rahul, India got back on its feet with a partnership score of 165 runs helping the side on the scoreboard.

After Kohli’s dismissal for 85 runs, Hardik Pandya joined forces with KL Rahul leading the side to the path of victory. KL Rahul was impressive as he scored an unbeaten 97 runs on 115 deliveries. By the end, India won the match by six wickets scoring 201 runs on 42nd over.

India will be playing their second World Cup match against Afghanistan on October 11 at Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi.
