An unimaginable incident saved Shreyas Iyer from walking off the crease during the first inning of the 1st Test of India tour of Bangladesh 2022.
Shreyas Iyer Remains Not Out After Ball Hits the Stump
The Indian cricket team was scheduled to play 2 Tests during their Bangladesh tour where the 1st Test will be played on December 14 and 2nd Test on December 22 in Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium and Shere Bangla National Stadium respectively.
During the first Test match, an interesting incident has been staged during the last session of day 1. The incident takes place during the 84th over where Shreyas Iyer and Pujara were batting.
When Ebadot Hossain bowled the 5th delivery of the over, Shreyas Iyer who was at the end of the striking end tried to defend the ball but the ball turns and clips the stumps. This may be a normal thing in the cricket but what happened next stuns everyone and even left Shreyas Iyer speechless.
The ball clips the stumps but the bail doesn’t come off but remained above the stumps. Though the red LED over the stump shines, as we all know, if the bails don’t come off, it doesn’t matter.

Shreyas Iyer remains in the striker end while heartbroken Hossain bowled the next ball. The wicket of Shreyas Iyer may changed the game flow as he made a stand after India’s top order failed.
Shreyas Iyer along with vice-captain Pujara added 149 runs partnership for the 5th wicket after India’s top order failed to score the expected runs.
In the first Test match winning the toss, India decides to bat first. The openers KL Rahul and Shubman Gill failed to make their best and returns the pavilion soon. Following them, the much-expected Virat Kohli too dismissed for just 1 run.
At the end of Day 1, India scored 278 runs for 6 wickets where Iyer remains unbeaten for 82 runs.
