The Indian batter Shreyas Iyer has missed fielding for the second day in a row during the finals match against Vidarbha in Ranji Trophy 2024.

Shreyas Iyer did not field on the fourth day of the match due to a problem with his lower back. He remained off the field on the fifth day of the final match against Vidarbha.
“He had some back pain, but he is fine now. He should take the field tomorrow,” said Bhushan Patil by the end of the fourth day.
Shreyas Iyer scored 95 runs in the second innings of Mumbai and was taken under care by medical staff while batting due to his back problem.
The 29-year-old was part of the test squad that played in England’s tour of India 2024. Despite playing two matches in the test, he was dropped for the remaining tests.
It is said that he was sidelined due to his back problem. “During the recently-held Test series against England at home, he had told the Indian team management about this injury troubling him again,” the source said.
This injury made concerns about his IPL 2024 appearance where he is set to lead Kolkata Knight Riders.
In the year 2023, Iyer underwent surgery for a back problem and the recent concerns may rule him out for the first few matches of IPL 2024.
Coming to the match, Mumbai scored 224 runs where Shardul Thakur was the only half-centurion for the side in the match. He smashed 75 runs on 69 deliveries including 8 fours and 3 sixes.
With a trial of 224 runs, Vidharba started their innings where the batting line-up suffered severe loss as they lost all 10 wickets for scoring 105 runs.
After Mumbai started their second innings, they responded after scoring 418 runs in their second innings.
With a target of 538 runs, Vidharbha started their innings where they scored 340 runs losing 5 wickets on session 2 of day 05.
Aksha Wadkar and Harsh Dubey were batting with 98 and 58 runs respectively at the time of writing at Wankhede Stadium.
