Shreyas Iyer likely to Miss last Three Tests due to Stiff Back and Groin pain

India has major injury concerns on the ongoing England tour of India to which Shreyas Iyer has been added due to his back stiffness and is likely to miss the remaining tests of the tour.

The Withdrawals and injury concerns are not new for the men in blues. There is no clarity on the return of Virat Kohli and questions about KL Rahul and Jadeja’s fitness have delayed the squad announcement for the remaining three tests.

On this occasion, Shreyas Iyer is known to be suffering from recurring back problems and pain in the groin area which increased the pressure on the team management. The NCA (National Cricket Academy) has written about the player’s condition to BCCI.

As per the report, Iyer is likely to miss the remaining Tests of the home tour. After completing the second test, Indian players traveled to Rajkot to prepare for the third test, but Iyer’s kit was sent to his hometown.

He would likely rest for a few days before starting his recovery at NCA. Iyer has reported about his back and groin pain after staying in the crease for more than 30 balls.

“Iyer has informed the Indian team management and the medical staff that his back gets stiff after playing more than 30 balls and he feels pain in his groin while playing forward defense,” said a source.

“Post surgery, he is facing this issue for the first time so he has been advised to rest for a few weeks. He will head to NCA later.”

If Iyer is not available for the selection, the team management will have to continue with Rajat Patidar and Sarfaraz Khan. If KL Rahul and Jadeja return to the squad, it may strengthen the batting unit.

On the other side, India’s batting side is considerably not in its top form. They would go for Patidar who made his debut during the ongoing series and Jadeja will be playing in Axar Patel‘s place.

Meanwhile, BCCI has planned to rest Jasprit Bumrah to manage his workload. He has bowled 58 overs in the first two tests. But Considering the situation, BCCI wants Bumrah back in the team.

However, the call is on Bumrah if he gets NOC from the Medical team. Currently, England and India have one victory each.

They will be facing off each other on the third test starting on February 15 at Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium.
