He missed the entire Asia Cup and World Cup and the first two games of the ODI series against Zimbabwe due to his injury.
With the first ODI match abandoned due to rain, Zimbabwe lost the second match on their tour, where their bowlers gave a tough competition of 209 runs incredibly tough for Sri Lanka. They even dominated the side at times. Their seamers led by Richard Ngarava were especially effective.
Zimbabwe won the toss and chose to bat on the 3rd ODI at the Zimbabwe tour of Sri Lanka, where Gumble and Kaitano opened for Zimbabwe in the 3rd match. But the rain interrupted the match after the fourth ball of the 8th over.
