Madan Lal slams Harmanpreet Kaur: Indian Women’s cricket team captain Harmanpreet Kaur becomes a piece of sensation right after her unacceptable behaviour during the post-match presentation ceremony of the 3rd ODI of India Women tour of Bangladesh 2023.
Harmanpreet Kaur criticises the umpires
Indian Women’s cricket team who were in need of winning the 3rd and final ODI game of their Bangladesh tour left displeasure after the match ends in a tie. Bangladesh Women’s posted their highest ODI score against India in the 3rd ODI by scoring 225 runs for 4 wickets loss at the end of 50 overs.
Notably, in the process, Fargana Hoque became the first Bangladeshi player to score a hundred in women’s ODIs. While chasing, India’s star batters Shafali Verma and Yastika Bhatia failed to fulfil the expectations and falls cheaply.
With Smriti Mandhana’s 59 and Harleen Deol’s 77 India made a strong comeback but soon after their wickets, India’s middle and lower-order batters starts to lose wickets without making an impact in the scoreboard.
The match flow turns in favour of the host when Nahida Akter dismissed Sneh Rana and Devika Vaidya in the 48th over for zero. In the final over India was in need of 3 runs from 6 balls with only one wicket in hand.
With singles of the first 2 deliveries, India levelled the score but Marufa Akter in her 3rd delivery dismissed Meghna Singh for 6 runs. The dismissal went in favour of Bangladesh where the match officials tagged the game as a tie. Right after the announcement, Indian players were left displeased with the decision.
At the post-match presentation ceremony, Harmanpreet had slammed umpires, calling for neutral officials to be allotted India’s games in the future.
“A lot of learning from this game. Even apart from the cricket, the type of umpiring that was happening there, we were very surprised. The next time whenever we are coming to Bangladesh, we’ll have to make sure we have to deal with this kind of umpiring and accordingly, we’ll have to prepare ourselves”, Harmanpreet said after the match.
“They [Bangladesh] batted really well, batted according to the situation. They were taking those singles which were very crucial. In between, we leaked a few runs but when we were batting, we controlled the game very well. But, as I mentioned earlier, some pathetic umpiring was done, and we are really disappointed about some decisions given by the umpires”, Harmanpreet added.
